Bethesda Mission - House Of Mercy

Bethesda Home For Children - Coonoor

Coonoor Bethesda Home was established in the year 1999. In the beginning there were only ten children in a rented house. Some of the children were from the Erumad Home, (This is when we moved our head quarters to Coonoor from Erumad) who came with us in the shifting of our residence. These children who grew with us in the home did not want to stay back in the Erumad home, because they were so attached with the family..So they came with us along with our children. Some of the few to be named are Kannan from a Paniya tribe, Suresh a heart patient with a jaw twisted face, Krishnamurthy a club footed semi-orphan, Muthulakshmi  sister of Suresh.and many more.

During the mission work in the forests among the tribal communities of Annai Pallam (which means valley of Elephants) we found some orphan children and children of the tribal who could not go to school, because the village school had only one teacher coming from the town. Moreover for a regular schooling the children will have to walk 16 kms to and fro in the thick jungles. Fear for elephants and animals prevented many of the children from going to school. Now children from this tribal village are housed in our home.

Now the Coonoor home houses more than 45 children. It is really a house of mercy taking care of orphan, semi orphan children from ages 3 months abandoned baby to 21 years teens. The children get good food, clothing , education, medical care, and above all the love of Christ.

Some of the children who grew in this home are married and settled in life. Some teens are working as drivers, security guard, textilell, and s miome are Pastors and Pastor’s wife. Etc.yah
